Little Clark (well maybe I should say 'big' now that he is 4lbs 2oz)...so, Clark never cries...or very seldom does...and usually it is for a very valid reason...like when someone shoves a bulb suction up his nose, he'll let out a cry...wouldn't you?
When he got his immunizations on Monday (yet another area where I had to just let go...'k, I get it...life's about letting go!)...anyhoo, he cried a little tiny "ehhhhhhhh" on the first 3 and not a peep on the last 2. When we bathed him the other night...as we dipped him in the water...he started to let out a cry, but realized as he got in the warm water....that he liked it...so the cry never came.
Yesterday when I came in, he was wailing...he was blowing out his feeding tube through his nose...pulling and tugging at it and crying at the top of his itty bitty lungs...so loud that a nurse from another bay came in to see what all the commotion was. He was finally successful at yanking out his tube which meant another had to go in...which caused even more wails...a couple of bradys...then I picked him up and cuddled him...and he was soothed in less than 5 minutes. He just wanted to be held...he is over it...we can tell. He wants to come home so bad. AND wow...we want him home SO bad! Patience...trust...patience...trust...argh! I mean, patience...trust :)
he's just letting you know "enough already, get me out of here" and obviously he hates it when his momma and daddy aren't near by....soon sweeties...soon...love you XOXOXO
ReplyDeleteI agree with Nana Linda, he wants outta there!! And who can blame him. True, he's progressed so well since birth BECAUSE of the care he has had in the NICU, but now he has his own "agenda", for lack of another word, and wants desperately to "settle" in at home, where he can be held whenever!!The latest pix of him with his arms extended and hands wide open says it all: "pick me up and get me outta here"! Patience little man, patience!! Sooooooooonnnn! Auntie Puddin loves you so!XOXOXOXOXO
ReplyDeleteTrust. Patience. Surrender. Man, he is going to have the toughest life lessons mastered before he hits 5 pounds!!! and you, my love, along with that husband of yours have worked off any little karma you had left- LOVE YOU- soooooonnn your happy family will be together alll daay long, blissed out at Marsden manor with molly by your sides.
ReplyDeleteHe wants to be home. He knows that mommy and daddy want to hold him. He doesn't want to be poked and prodded. He is over the hospital scene. It will be soon and he will be able to sleep in his own bed and be held and fed, loved and kissed. This is probably harder than the first 10 weeks. The light is getting so close and you know he will be able to come home so soon. These next few weeks will melt away and you will have those quiet moments, when you are holding him in his room and all will be right with the world.
ReplyDeleteYes, as he becomes more aware of his surroundings, he's got to become anxious for the whole family to be home together, too!! Patience is a lesson we all keep learning in different ways... Clark is getting a head start on it. :)
ReplyDeleteA complete stranger cries with joy over this strong little one's triumph and his parents' strength. My youngest was in the NICU and, though that fear is now far, far away as she approaches nine years old, I can still remember it. Blessings to your family for many, many, many years to come. Thank you for sharing this emotional time. We all need reminders to cherish the ones we love...especially in the midst of life. I walk past your studio every morning and now it will serve as a chance to stop and say a prayer for your family and be grateful.
