Draco

Today's post is extra special to me, cuz it's another example of adult-transition-hood; when friends you've known since you were kids...are having kids! One of my oldest and dearest friends, Danica, gave birth to a bouncing baby boy, Draco, on September 7th. (She went into labor on Labor Day...how appropriate!)

Danica and I met at age 13 and instantly hit it off. One of the first things we shared with each other were our birthdays. I mean, not just sharing that we both have birthdays, but that we actually SHARE a birthday. Same day, year, almost down to the minute! I think I'm a few hours older, rather, but it just sounds cooler to imagine we're minutes apart.

Are there similarities between us? Not really. I mean, we both share a love for Little Mermaid and Billy Joel, but I'm several kinds of wacky and a little simple, she's super sweet and a math genius. Yet, underneath, there is a connection. A mutual caring and understanding, that I can only suggest, resonates from the fact that we both appeared on this Earth at the same time. And now, at the same time, we are both parents of little boys and sharing our first Christmas as a full blown family!

A few weeks ago Christy, Clark and I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Draco! Couldn't wait to hold the little dude. At 10 pounds (only 6 lighter than Clark is now), he felt like a feather. It seemed ages ago Clark was that tiny. It was great to hold my good friend's baby in my arms. It was great to see my good friend as a mom. At one point we locked eyes and recognized that being a parent...is really really great!

Here's Draco and Clark's first meeting (no, we did not link their hands for the pic...that just happened).

Clark's Personal Galaxy

"What is this?" You ask? Why proof to Mr. Clark that his parents would lasso the moon, wrangle the stars, and bottle up his very own milky way!

Mobiles? Bleh.
Stuffed animals? Old news.
This nifty laser light show should be the new fad for all you mommas and papas out there. When it's Clark's bedtime, a flip of the switch splashes thousands of slow-moving, green, "stars" across his crib, wall, and ceiling. A smooth wash of milky-blue, aura, ghosts underneath, enhancing his inter-galactic dream scape!

Also fun for adult parties! Wee!

Happy Holidays Chronicle Followers!

We're here in Nashville, TN! Arrived yesterday to some crisp cold weather. You could ice skate on Christy's Mom's pool, it's gotten THAT cold. Enough about the weather, there are other sites for that, you come here cuz you want a Clark update. Well here ya go.

Remember I mentioned a tooth? Well, make that TWO teeth. Bottom row, side by side. One growing more expediently than the other. It certainly adds to his cuteness. You can kind of catch a glimpse of 'em here:
(Look real hard...they're there)

Last week, Clark got a visit from Nana Linda! She took a train alll the way from Narragansett, Rhode Island to meet her first grandson! As soon as she walked in the door he beamed with delight and they were inseparable her entire stay!

Clark is on the move! Oh boy is he. Not just scootin', but wiggly, squirmy, and sometimes difficult to subdue. Diaper changes now require some sort of object of distraction to keep him from rolling over in the middle of the process. Placing the package of wipes on his chest usually does the trick. Unless there's something he realllly wants to see, then he might end up rolling over, bare-assed, crawling away from you while you hold his pants in defeat.
Yes, I did mention 'scootin'. Not quite crawling, but quickly slamming both arms on the ground and inching himself forward. Reminds me of Gizmo from Gremlins.

(Random gratuitous shower scene)

He talks! Well, not in words you and I could understand, but the usual baby googly gook. His favorite? Screaming at the top of his lungs! At the pique of his sudden excitement, he'll let out a gleeful shriek of varying lengths and tones! What else can we do when this happens but join him! Glad we don't have roommates!

He traveled like a champ this round. Second time on the plane and he was so non-plussed, about 45 mins into the flight, he passed out on mommy's chest. And STAYED that way until we landed...that was about 3 1/2 hours later! Yeah, he rocks!

There is much warmth, reflection, and happy (and not-so happy) memories to write about. But we want to save some for another post!

Yes, there are Christmas pics to come!

Speaking of Bite

Clark's got hisself a tooth!

It's been around for about a week or so now.

I really wanted to get a picture to post before I let you all know.
But as you can imagine, it's a difficult task.

So here's a description:
It's only one tooth (so far).
It's a bottom. On the right side.
It's cute as hell.
It now hurts when he bites my finger.

Congrats Clark! Only 19 more to go!

Will try to get an image for youse guys, but it's like capturing
Big Foot...comes out all blurry. And I want you all to BELIEVE!!!
