The countdown...

Clark is 11 weeks old today (well, yesterday by the time I am actually getting around to posting this). So we are blogging less because now instead of having to wait to touch him every 3 hours as we used to due to over-stimulation, temperature maintenance, instability, etc., we are hands on all day...feeding him, talking turns holding him, changing him - and trying to eat in between and then of course-the pumping-always the pumping...

Each day is getting one day closer to our sweet little son's homecoming...each day is getting harder and harder to leave him behind...each day he is getting stronger...each day we all fall in love even more.

Some days are easy peasy...others are heart wrenching...yesterday was the latter for me...and boy oh boy did I have me a honest to goodness wailing session as Jason rubbed my back and just let me get it out...and then I picked myself up...and started over again...feeling released from what was inside of me and ready to face the day...

Clark is now 5lbs 5 oz. He is figuring out the whole suck, swallow and breath thing and we are so proud of him. He is trying so hard and just keeps going even when we think he is done. Poor thing...he gets so exhausted. But he is a fighter as he has proven over the past 11 weeks. We are amazed by him.

We took the required CPR course for babies on Monday. The nurses are starting to talk to us about discharge stuff and it just tickles us silly. The time is drawing near...we are hoping just a couple more weeks or less!

Check out his paw print fatigues...

  3. Take a look at those cheeks and his double chin!!! I was talking about him at my exercise group this morning and showing off pix of Clark and even made mention of the fact the very thing you, Christy, said about "less blog, more hands on, next step....H-O-M-E!" What a day that will be! All my friends, and even customers where I work, ask me all the time about Clark. I feel like I'm right there with you guys, but I do look forward to the day when we get to meet him in person. In the meantime, I am content to observe and be joyful for the miracle that we have all been blessed with. I love you, the three of you, more than you know! XOXOXOXOXOXOXO

  6. Hi-a parent came in to the office yesterday while I was talking to Holly. He heard me telling her how amazingly well Clark was doing! This dad said that his little boy was also a very tiny preemie and now he is 5 years old and starting Kindergarten in August!!! He really has no problems at all. He said just an eye thing that was taken care of a few years ago! He has a friend whose daughter was barely 1 lb when she was born and she is now 16 and driving!!! See you guys, Clark is on his way home and soon he will be running, jumping, and playing with Molly and everyone else! Happy 11th week, Clark and don't worry about crying spells, Christy. We all have them. They are good to have every so often!

  7. Oh..... that cute little chubby double chin is so adoreable. Y'all must be ridiculously estatic about Clark coming home. You do realize that you might actually have him home before his original due date?? You'll probably end up coming out ahead in all this... in a strange, bizarre mysterious universe sort of way.

    XOXOXOXO

  8. Okay. Now I can see him sitting in your living room with his tinker toys spread out in front of him, stuffed bears, pulling Mollie's tail (gently, and Mollie just loving it), peanut butter and jelly smeared on his little face and hands, just generally - joy, joy, joy, and more joy! Talk about "sustained joy" - His first word will probably be "Namaste" (well, after Mommy and Daddy and Mollie). I'm so happy for all of you. Brings tears to my eyes.
XOXOXOXOXO Love from all of us here to all of you. Robin
